Thanks for all the well wishes for my first day of chemo today, but it didn’t happen. Echocardiogram done, blood work done, saw the doctor and it all stopped there. Lefty is not healed enough to start chemo. If they start, the drugs will kill the cells it needs to heal and it will never heal. Here we go again – delay, delay, delay.
We stopped by and my surgeon checked the wound, which although still a little leaky, it is slowly healing and just needs more time. Poor Lefty, three surgeries in four weeks has certainly taken it’s toll. Anyways, nothing will change we just need to wait 2 weeks to get started, so we will.
On the way to the appointments this morning we heard the song which will be our anthem. An anthem is defined as “a rousing or uplifting song identified with a particular group, body, or cause” and every good cancer fight needs one. It’s called “Tough People Do” by Trace Adkins. (click on the title and it should play) The main message is Tough Times Don’t Last, Tough People Do, something I intend to prove true over and over again. Of course, I already have a pretty good start…
Sorry it didn’t start today. I am sure you were mentally geared up..and ready to go. You are so strong. Wishing a speedy healing for lefty! Enjoy the weekend.
Hi Scrappy! Yes, all geared up even had the IV in…oh well. Xoxox
Sorry you had a delay – I know you were ready to start kicking butt. Get lefty healthy and in fighting form. Tihinking of you:)
Oh Deb,
Look at it this way…They just wanted to wait to give it to you as a birthday gift next week:-). Thinking of you!
Love your anthem!!
Hi Debba,
Just stopped into your chat room to see how you are doing. Sorry about the delay. Everything happens for a reason…sometimes we just don’t understand why at the time. Hope you are still relaxing and resting.
Love,
Kristen
I am so sorry you’re going through this “cancer experience” (wasn’t that a nice way to say it?). Stay strong — Elizabeth
