Well it’s been two months already! Two months since I stopped working. Two months since I moved home full-time. No, I am not bored. I don’t miss working. It is weird. Greg seems to like having me around. I am happy.
I am happy I get to workout every day. I’m in with the morning mommy crew at the gym between 8:30 and 10:30 – we work our asses off (literally). These are same women I used to “hate” with their toned arms and their ability to run effortlessly. I used say “sure, I could look like that too if I went to the gym for 2 hours everyday when my kids went to school…hmm, bitches”. Well, it’s true. I feel great, they are nice, and it is fun!
I am happy I am productive and making progress on my “list”. I have an office upstairs at the house where I “work” trying to get my life in order. Greg wonders what the heck I do up there, but I am busy. There are so many things that just don’t get done when you are working all the time, you’ll get to them someday. Well, it is someday.
I am happy my cousins sent me this clock for my office. It’s funny and it actually really helps! I’ve lived the last 20 years by a retail fiscal calendar, every day was tracked, every day meant something. Without it, I walk around with a panicked look on my face, asking “what day is today?”
I am happy I completed a 60-mile bike ride on Saturday. It was for MS and was called Ride the Vineyard. We went to Martha’s Vineyard for the weekend with 2 other couples – the girls did the Bike ride, the boys drank beer. I’ve never done a ride like that before. It was fun and no, it was not flat!
I am happy each week there are fun things to do. Polly Planner has been busy up in her office. May will be an even busier month. We have travel plans that will take me places I have never been.
I am happy I get to spend one on one time with old friends. My flexibility allows me to meet friends for lunch or dinner, even spontaneously! So, if you are in the area give me a call.
I am happy to be home. For the last 5 years, I split my time and never felt settled. I like to feel settled. I feel like I have a home again.
I am happy I get to slow down a bit. The other day I actually went to a book store, not Amazon, not Target – Barnes & Noble. Yes, a real book store! I walked around for about a hour, it was just nice being there, kind of peaceful. I love to read. My favorite vacations are simply my beach chair and a book. While working it was hard to read – the only time it worked was on a plane or on vacation. I can be a bit OCD (I know, shocking!) and once I start reading I need large blocks of time because I must finish it, 2 to 3 days, tops. Here’s what I went with…a couple recommendations from friends, plus my own picks:
Finally, I am happy that after two months it is FINALLY warm enough to sit out on the back deck! I’ve designated this afternoon as “time to get a little sun time.” I’ve got one of my new books and I am happy!
Love it! “I am jealous” (-:
