With only 4 weeks of chemo to go, I bet you were thinking the title of this post refers to the end in sight for my chemo? Well, that’s true, but I was really referring to my HAIR!
Yes, my hair is growing! I’ve had some peach fuzz for a while that really didn’t amount to much, but this week I have a whole bunch more. And it covers my head, not just a few pieces here and there. You may not be able to see it in the picture, but it is there. Greg even noticed without me asking him to look for it!
So we asked Jade, my infusion nurse, on Friday if it is really starting to grow. She warned not to get too attached to it as will probably fall out. Crap, I don’t care, it still feels pretty good and gives me hope that it won’t be too long now. I do need to keep my expectations in check as it will take quite a while to grow back. Did you see Charlize Theron’s short do at the Oscars?
In an interview she said she shaved it for a movie role and this is regrowth after 3 months. Yikes, I guess I am shooting for this by the end of the summer, like August. (Just to clarify, I am shooting for this type of hair by August, looking like Charlize Theron would just be a miracle!) I read it could take up to 1 1/2 years to get back to shoulder length. That’s ok, I’ll take it. I miss my long blonde locks! (However, I am loving the super quick showers and do not miss the blow dryer!).
That’s all the big news for this week. After 16 weeks, we’ve definitely got the chemo routine down and I’ve earned my “creds” so we always get the window seat now. The post-chemo tiredness lingers a bit longer each week (and the hot flashes during the night do not help), but I don’t let it keep me down. Only 4 weeks to go!
Finish line getting closer. xoxo
I know it, can’t wait! Thanks for checking in. Hope you guys are all doing well…xoxo
You might keep it! I had 4 rounds of AC (one every 3 weeks) and then 12 weekly rounds of Taxol. My hair started to come in between rounds 3-4 of the AC and continued to grow right through the Taxol.
Yay, that is encouraging! Thanks so much!
You are amazing Deb – almost there!
Thinking about you Deb! You’ve been thru a lot, the finish line is in sight! Luv ya.
Thanks Bill. Yes it is! 🙂 Xoxo
