It was two years ago today Lefty went under the knife for our Lumpectomy surgery, well the first one.  They ended up going in three times to get it all that month.  Seems like so long ago now.  I remember I just wanted to get the whole thing started so I could be done with it.  Patience has never been my strong suit.  I eventually finished and moved on with my life.  Life is good!

It was also when I started this blog.  That was 80 posts ago.  I started it so I could update my family, friends, and co-workers with the latest details of my breast cancer saga.  (I am very lucky that I had so many people that cared.)  That worked, but it also gave me an outlet where I could process everything going on and how I was feeling.  It became therapeutic and fun, plus people seemed to like reading it, so I kept going.

Now here we are two years later.  Yesterday once again kicked off Breast Cancer Awareness Month and it is everywhere you look.  On Good Morning America yesterday they were calling breast cancer survivors WARRIORS.  I like that word better than survivor, I feel like a warrior.  (Yes, the Patty Smyth “The Warrior” song from the 80’s is on all my playlists.)   The word “survivor” sounds like something that happened to you – the word “warrior” sounds like something you made happen.  Something you battled for!

Sure I have the physical battle scar on Lefty, but it’s the emotional battle scars that make a true warrior.  If you’ve been reading along you know I choose to fight my battles with positive attitude and live by the mantra – what does not kill you, makes you stronger.  It works for me.

So, two years later, I not only feel stronger and stronger every day, but I am stronger.  Strong like a warrior needs to be…
